About
El Turix stands as a beacon of authentic Mexican street food nestled in the heart of Polanco, Ciudad de México. Renowned primarily for its cochinita pibil, this humble taquería specializes exclusively in pork dishes, allowing the flavor of the slow-cooked meat to shine through in every bite. The experience here is unpretentious—cash only and a casual rhythm where customers often find themselves waiting to savor the simplicity of genuine, well-made tacos.
What sets El Turix apart is its masterful focus on pork, offered through a handful of variations: the pork taco, torta, and panucho. Each plate is a celebration of rich, juicy meat steeped in traditional marinade, perfectly balanced with abundant lime and salsa to customize heat and acidity. The torta, in particular, is a standout, soaking up every drop of savory pork juice and elevating the dish into something memorable.
Despite serving one core ingredient, El Turix delivers a culinary punch that's both affordable and delicious—especially striking given its location in the upscale Polanco district. The price point, roughly 111 pesos for three hearty items, offers exceptional value without sacrificing authenticity or flavor.
From the zing of the potent spicy sauces to the crisp yet tender textures across taco shells, each serving highlights a deep respect for traditional Yucatecan recipes. The straightforward menu encourages diners to focus on what matters most: quality pork and the vibrant accompaniments that enhance it. For those seeking a quick, genuine taco fix that’s steeped in heritage and wallet-friendly, El Turix embodies a must-visit culinary gem.
“ It was decent cochinita tacos and there was a slight queue when we got there. Tasted good, but really didn’t change my life. Definitely still worth a try! ”
“ If you’re in the area this is the cheapest food you’ll get since polanco is an expensive area. They’re know for their pork tacos here and they’re delicious. Anytime I’m in the area and I want a cheap, quick, and yummy taco, I come here for the pork. ”
“ TLDR: when you see a restaurant only serve one type of item, you gotta go! They only had pork and the only options were how to eat it. We ordered the pork torta, pork panache and the pork taco. I loved the torta as it soaked up all of the juices of the pork. Everything was so flavorful and it came with as many limons and salsa as you wanted. All three items came out to $111 pesos ($6 USD). Very good price for very good food, cash only! ”
“ Cash only and pay after you fill your belly! Truly authentic experience. ”
“ Good place for a quick bite to go, authentic and good value for the money, tried the soft and crispy shell taco, both very tasty and good, especially the hot sauce ! If you like it spicy make sure you have some, the chili flavor is super potent and good. ”
